Dr. Peter Blendonohy is a graduate of
Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He earned
his medical degree from the Des Moines University in
Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation Medicine Residency at
Northwestern University Medical School and the
Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, both in
Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Blendonohy also completed a Fellowship in
Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation at the
Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Dr.
Blendonohy is board certified by the American Board
of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a
Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation and a member the American Medical
Association. He is a proud member of the Illinois
Army National Guard and has completed four
deployments; three to Iraq in support of Operation
Iraqi Freedom and one to Afghanistan in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom. Currently, Dr.
Blendonohy serves as the Illinois State Surgeon.
Dr. Blendonohy was a staff physician at National
Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC. He is on
staff at several of the area hospitals including
Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago,
Illinois where he serves as medical director of a 45
bed rehabilitation medicine program. Dr. Blendonohy
has over 20 years experience treating patients
recovering from stroke, joint replacement, acute and
chronic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and traumatic
brain injuries. Additionally, Dr. Blendonohy is
trained in the Principles of Wound Healing and
Hyperbaric Medicine by the National Healing
Institute at the University Hospital Main, Ohio
State University.
As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Blendonohy
received additional specialty training in the art
and science of musculoskeletal therapy and total
person wellness.
